Residential Community, Tepoztlan
Project Description
Menta Architectural Ventures is planning to develop a sustainable, architecturally sensitive residential community in Tepoztlan, Morelos, Mexico. The project will be composed of 23 residences and 7 lots, as well as carefully crafted common features and amenities.

The project design addresses the specific environmental, cultural and economic challenges of the site. Community design supports walking and enjoyment of the surrounding environment by establishing separate parking areas and carefully placing residences to allow unobstructed views. An archaeological park will be an integral part of the community, establishing a relationship between the ruins, the new residents, and the greater Tepoztlan community. Water sourcing and treatment, a very important issue in the area, will be addressed by installing water collection systems, efficient fixtures, and a community water treatment plant, and using native landscaping to reduce the need for watering. Finally, a small, but potentially powerful, community venture fund will be created, with the proceeds of each sale going to support a group of local entrepreneurs.
Residences will range in size, responding to the interests of different clients. All will incorporate generous terraces and semi-open areas thought out to respond to the user's interests: reading, cooking, dining, and simply relaxing. An open kitchen, a built-in library/media room and a wine cellar are some of the main home features. Partitions between rooms will be partially designed by clients, in order to allow flexibility in the interior program. The seven lots are meant for residents who want to build a home according to their own ideas and needs.
Common areas and features include water areas placed around the community (family pool, fountains, adult pool/jacuzzi), gathering and sitting areas, a community garden and orchard, a sports field, and maintenance facilities. Additionally, an archaeological park will be created beside the ruins of the pre-Hispanic pyramid.
